OUR MISSION & VALUES

 Who We Are

Calvary exists for one purpose: to glorify God! With that singular purpose in mind, we value verse-by-verse Bible teaching for the following reasons:

  • God is glorified as His people get to know Him better and grow to spiritual maturity. This requires understanding what the Bible teaches and learning how to apply it to the challenges of daily life.

  • God is glorified wherever His people take His Word seriously. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us that ALL Scripture is literally “God-breathed.” The Bible is His written Word, His revelation of Himself to humanity. It is without error and completely trustworthy, our final authority for faith and practice (2 Pet. 1:20-21).

  • God is glorified when we take the Bible literally and interpret it in context. Doing so reveals distinct Dispensations (periods of stewardship) in the outworking of God’s eternal plan in which He has been, is, and will always be at work accomplishing His purposes from eternity past to eternity future (Psalm 93:1-2; Heb. 7:11-28).

  • To that end God will be glorified in the future when His Son, Jesus Christ, returns to the earth prior to establishing His millennial (i.e. 1,000 year) kingdom (Rev. 20:3-6) and rules and reigns forever as King of kings and Lord of lords (Rev. 19:16)!

Leadership Team

A dedicated team of godly men and servant leaders guide the Calvary church body. Our deacons are committed to supporting individuals in their journey of faith, with a mission to see believers mature in their walks with the Lord.

What is the Gospel?

The Good News (Gospel means “good news”) is that Jesus Christ “died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day…”(1 Cor. 15:3-4). The gospel is “the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes…”(Rom. 1:16). God created everything (including us) for His glory. Sadly, mankind exchanged the glory of God for a lie and fell under His punishment. “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3:23). “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Rom. 6:23). Thankfully, God loved us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to rescue us from His punishment. “God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, in order that whoever believes in Him would not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). The good news is that anyone who trusts in Christ will have their sins forgiven, be restored to God, and given eternal life. How? By faith! “By grace you have been saved through faith and not of yourselves; it is the gift of God” (Eph. 2:8).

What We Believe

  • God is a Trinity: Father, Son, Holy Spirit. One in essence, three distinct persons.

  • Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, is the Head of the Church

  • The Old & New Testaments are the inspired and inerrant Word of God.

  • Every person is created in the image of God, however we are all dead in trespasses and sins.

  • Salvation is by God’s grace, through faith, in Jesus Christ – nothing more, nothing less. Because salvation is God’s gracious gift, all believers, once saved, are saved forever.

  • Spiritual growth is God’s will for every Christian. It is a process whereby the Holy Spirit transforms believers’ lives over time.

  • Every believer possesses one or more spiritual gifts as given to him or her by the Holy Spirit.

  • Water baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper are the two ordinances for the Church.

  • Heaven and Hell are literal places.

  • Eternal life is granted to all who place their faith in Jesus Christ while those who reject God’s only Son fall under His wrath.

  • Jesus Christ will return in the future to rapture His Church and establish His Kingdom on the Earth.

  • Our full doctrinal statement can be found in the 2000 Baptist Faith & Message.

Church History

Our church was organized on Sept. 13, 1959 and began with 14 members who met in rented facilities until our current building was constructed in the mid-1960s. For over sixty years Calvary has continued to minister to multiple generations here in North-Central Washington. Today, we remain as committed as ever to God and His Word, recognizing its unique power to transform lives. We are also continually in awe of God’s amazing grace and we strive to live in light of it and be characterized by it! From humble beginnings, the Lord has continued to bless our congregation and our greatest priority remains: to glorify Him!

Church Affiliation

Southern Baptist Convention

We are an autonomous local church however, we voluntarily associate with the Southern Baptist Convention. The Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) is a body of like-minded local churches cooperating together to reach the world with the Good News of Jesus Christ. There are currently more than than fifty thousand Southern Baptist cooperating churches and church-type missions.

Southern Baptists believe that the Bible is God’s revelation of Himself to mankind, with His ultimate revelation being the Gospel message of redemption through Jesus Christ. For that reason, Southern Baptists have summarized their biblical convictions in a statement of faith called The Baptist Faith and Message. Southern Baptists are not a creedal people, requiring churches or individuals to embrace a standardized set of beliefs; but we are a confessional people. The BF&M represents the confessional consensus of “certain definite doctrines that Baptists believe, cherish, and with which they have been and are now closely identified.”

Free Grace Alliance

The mission of the Free Grace Alliance is to advance the grace message throughout the world by connecting, encouraging, and equipping the body of Christ. We reach out to all points of the world through the internet, conferences, seminars, our magazine, and other media.
